Promote Water
About this goal
Water is the best drink for children in out-of-school-time programs. It is calorie-free, hydrating, and low-cost!
Serve water at every snack, and make sure it is available throughout the program day. Encourage children to drink water whenever they are thirsty.
Do not serve sugar-sweetened beverages (like soda, fruit drinks, sports drinks, and fruit-ades) during your programs. Instead provide a pitcher of water and cups when children are eating their snack and meals and take a cooler or jug of water with you when you go outside.
